The Wichita Police Department and Crime Stoppers hope more reward money will lead to more tips into a Wichita cold case.
They're featuring a different cold case each week through the end of the year. This week, they're focusing on the death of 23-year-old Samuel Springsteen.
Springsteen was found with a gunshot wound to his head in the 5100 block of E. Bayley in the early-morning hours of May 27 of this year. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators later learned that the shooting was a result of an argument between two of Springsteen's friends and rival gang members.
“We encourage anyone with information about this or any felony crime to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously, either by phone at 316-267-2111, by text message by sending their tip to CRIMES (274637) and beginning their text message with TIP217, or on the web at www.wsccs.com. All ways are anonymous and no one will ever ask the name of the tipster,” said Crime Stoppers Executive Director Gordon Bassham.
