United States Marine Commander Andy Larson is having a Christmas break he'll never forget. The Lyons, Kansas native arrived at Mid-Continent Airport Thursday afternoon to meet his one-month-old son for the first time.
Larson's wife Nickia and their two young daughters were with him in Africa, where he's stationed, up until five months ago. However, Nickia and the girls had to come back to Kansas so Nickia could get the medical care she needed because her pregnancy.
Now, Commander Larson is back to spend the next 12 days in Lyons with his family which is now one person bigger with addition of son, Tucker.
"I really can't put into words what I'm feeling right now, just because--especially when they came up and ran up to me--just melted my heart," Larson says.
Larson says he looks forward to helping his wife care for the kids over the next several days. He says she can use a break after living as a single mom with three young children for so long.
