A thousand miles away and fifty degrees warmer, the Kansas State Wildcats landed in Phoenix where they'll play in the Fiesta Bowl next week. And, as soon as Monica Shelton picks out her game shirt and gets packed, she'll be on her way too.
"I'm excited to go to a bowl game," Shelton says. "I think it'll be a lot of fun!"
Shelton says she's still kicking herself for not following K-State to the Cotton Bowl last season. She hasn't missed a game this season, and wasn't about to pass up a trip to sunny Arizona for the Wildcats' biggest game in years.
Shelton says she's a huge fan, and she's not alone. The owner of Tad's Locker Room, which sells team apparel and merchandise, says K-State fans will be dressed to the nines. Wildcat clothing is the big seller right now as game day approaches.
"They're all getting ready," Tad Snarenberger says. "They've been coming in for the past week and a half, getting ready for either the parties or going to the Fiesta Bowl. They're just stocking up!"
Some fans were already in Arizona when the team arrived. Many are leaving New Year's Day. Those who hadn't planned to go can still change their minds, because tickets are still available--so are the shirts and other game day essentials.
