(WICHITA, Kan.)—
You may be seeing or smelling smoke in Sedgwick County. At least 15 controlled burns were underway Friday morning.
One of the locations is the Great Plains Nature Center at 29th and Woodlawn.
911 dispatchers tell us they are getting several calls because people want to burn off excess brush before a burn ban goes into effect in April. Since Friday's weather conditions look warm without much wind, many are taking advantage.
