Kansas native and former senator Bob Dole is out of the hospital.
The former majority leader and 1996 Republican presidential nominee was released from Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Wednesday according to reports.
Dole checked himself into this hospital for what his spokeswoman described as a routine procedure.
Dole, who turned 89 in July, has been fighting a leg infection since 2009. An injury in World War II left his right arm disabled, and his left arm partially disabled.
Dole represented Kansas in the Senate from 1969 to 1996. He was born in Russell in 1923.
