Thousands of passengers from the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph are finally home.  To make up for the ruined vacation, passengers will get a full refund, a credit for another cruise and $500.

FactFinder 12 wondered about the crew members, if they're getting anything extra. Many of the passengers said the staff went above and beyond while they were stuck at sea.

FactFinder 12 asked Carnival about crew members and found they are not getting any extra compensation.  The cruise line says staff members will receive their normal pay.  They are being put up in a hotel for the next few nights and will then be transferred to another ship or sent on vacation if that's what was scheduled.

We also asked Carnival about their back-up plans and why passengers couldn't be transferred to another ship. Carnival says it checked on this and all of its ships were in service.  The company says that means there weren't enough cabins available to accommodate more than 3,100 guests on the Triumph.   Also the company says a ship-to-ship transfer at sea would be considered too risky.
