Students at Wichita Public Schools will get a second snow day. The district announced classes will be cancelled Friday February 22nd.
All schools and the central office will reamin closed because of weather conditions.
The district says cancellation was determined by three factors. They considered the projected weather activity through the remainder of Thursday, the dangerous conditions of side streets, sidewalks and bus stops and the ability to clear parking lots and sidewalks safely by the start of school.
Only Varsity basketball games will proceed Friday night, February 22, as rescheduled, and wrestling and bowling activities will continue with schedule modifications.
School based staff should not report to work Friday. However, the district says the following workers should report by 9 a.m., all District Leadership Team members, division directors, executive directors, directors and SSC-based custodial office personnel and security and dispatch personnel. All employees assigned to snow removal crews, all building custodians and district security officers will receive specific instructions from their supervisors.
