Just 4.7% of registered voters turned out for Tuesday's primary election. That's compared with 2011 which has a low of 7.75%.
Election officials knew the turnout was going to be low because there weren't a lot of heated races. They also say weather was a factor in keeping some voters home.
Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Tabitha Lehman says the polling place at the Sedgwick Co. Zoo only had five voters through the entire day.
She says it is a shame that more people didn't get out and vote, since the poll workers worked so hard to make sure polling places were open and clear of snow.
