The man accused of hitting and killing a Wichita man while fleeing from police was in court Monday.   Prosecutors charged Keith Ritz with first degree murder, fleeing and eluding police and being a habitual violator.

March 5th, Wichita police tried to stop Ritz in a stolen truck.  They say he wouldn't stop and sped off.  At first police began chasing him, but the police chief says it was quickly shut down.

By the time they shut down the chase, they say Ritz had slammed into another truck near Harry and Wichita.  In the other truck was 38-year-old Venancio Perez, he died at the scene.

Police say this wasn't the first time Ritz ran from them.  Monday he was also charged with theft and fleeing and eluding police from an incident December 26th.  He's being held on a $250,000 bond and is expected back in court March 25th.
