Wichita police identify a six-year-old girl killed in a crash in SE Wichita Tuesday night.  The crash happened at the intersection of Mt. Vernon and Edgemoor.

Lt. Joe Schroeder says eyewitness reports a car, driven by an 18-year-old male, was headed west on Mt. Vernon at a very high rate of speed (60-70 mph in a 35 mph zone) when it struck a car headed north on Edgemoor.

Police say the speeding car struck the other car on the back right passenger side, where 6-year-old Feodora Two-Hatchett was sitting. Two-Hatchett was properly restrained in a booster seat.

"The child's injuries were such that she died on the scene despite the efforts of many neighbors and passers by who attempted to render aid," said Lt. Schroeder.

The girl's 27-year-old mother and one-year-old sister taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but they are expected to be okay.

Police are investigating conflicting reports about whether the mother stopped at the stop sign at the intersection.

The 18-year-old driver of the first car was not hurt.  He had a 15-year-old passenger who was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Two-Hachett is the 9th traffic fatality in Wichita this year, she is the first child killed. This time last year, Wichita had 18 traffic fatalities.
