A Kansas City abortion clinic says it has been training two doctors to provide abortion services in Wichita in the wake of the shooting death of Dr. George Tiller.
Aid For Women confirmed Wednesday it has been teaching doctors Mila Means and Greg Linhardt to do abortions at their Wichita practices.
Clinic spokesman Jeff Peterson says the physicians were motivated after Tiller was shot to death in his church in May 2009. Scott Roeder is serving a life sentence for killing Dr. Tiller because he performed abortions. No abortion services have been offered in Wichita since the murder.
A spokesman for Means' clinic says she does not plan to do late-term abortions, as Tiller did. The spokesman says Means plans to begin offering abortions at her solo family practice sometime in mid-2011.
A spokesman also said the FBI has contacted the clinic about security after what happened to Dr. Tiller.
Linhardt did not return a call for comment.
