A Moundridge man's family says he wanted to help the treatment center that helped him. On Thursday, Valley Hope cut the ribbon to its newest addictive treatment center.

Valley Hope treats people for alcohol and drug addictions, and Larry Wedel left the center $4 million in his will at a time when the non-profit needed the help.

Valley Hope's old center in Halstead was struggling to survive because of the economy and a deteriorating building.

Wedel's brother says he always wanted to help the group that saved his life.

"It's kind of a little overwhelming to think that it really happened," says Norman Wedel. "He had that dream, you know, and made it happen.  He made it happen."

The new treatment center has 48 beds with room to expand. Valley Hope in Moundridge plans to begin serving patients next week.
