(WICHITA, Kan.)—
Computers at the Department of Motor Vehicles are due for an upgrade next year.
Plans for the upgrade started three years ago. It will be a cloud based system which officials say will cut down on the amount of paper work needed to process renewals and other related business.
One thing it won't do though is cut down on the amount of time people spend at the DMV. Officials say that all of the changes will only be noticed behind the scenes.
The software upgrade will take place in two phases. The tag offices will get the first upgrade in January, and the drivers' license offices will be upgraded in the spring.
