While some people in western Kansas are trying to keep their driveways clear of snow, others in Wichita want to keep their basements clear of water.

Approximately two inches rain fell in the city and many homeowners are conscerned their sump pumps can't handle all of it. Some plumbing companies say they've seen a spike in calls from people wanting to avoid a flood.

Plumbers recommend people check their sump pumps before the rain comes. You can do this by filling the pit with water and making sure the pump is working. They say doing this will save you a lot of money in the long run.
