Dozens of dentists donated their services for a free dental clinic at the Kansas Pavilions last weekend.
More than 1,650 patients were treated at the Kansas Mission of Mercy event, receiving a total $1.24 million in services. Services included free cleanings, extractions and fillings.
Kansas dentists joined hygienists, dental assistants, pediatric dentists and other volunteers to provide free dental services to children and adults who cannot afford care. More than 1,000 volunteers helped pull off the event.
This was the 10th year for the free dental clinic. Dodge City will host the 2014 KMOM event February 28 and March 1.
Organizing the annual KMOM event is just one way the Kansas Dental Association (KDA) is working to increase access to dental care in Kansas.
