(WICHITA, Kan.)—
Crews at Mid-Continent Airport will expect a long night Wednesday into Thursday.
They'll use two big plows and special brooms to keep the runways, taxiways and ramp areas clear.
Eventhough Wichita hasn't had much snow in the last couple of years, the brooms are sometimes used to sweep off rain.
Wichita could get another several inches of snow overnight Thursday, but the equipment can handle as much as five tons of snow per hour.
Scott Loesch, maintenance superintendent, said the goal is to keep two runways open at all times.
