A head on crash involving a semi in Kingman County has turned deadly.

It happened on U.S. 54, about eight miles west of Kingman.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Justin Adams, 31, of Missouri, was driving east on Highway 54, when he lost control on a curve, striking a semi head on. Adams was flown to a Wichita hospital where he later died.

The driver of the semi, Lynn Andrews, of Missiouri was not hurt. A passenger, James Meadows, 71, of Missouri, suffered serious injuries. Meadows was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Authorities in Kingman County have closed U.S. 54 after a serious accident involving a semi.

Crews were called to the scene on U.S. 54 near Kingman State Lake around 4 p.m. Friday. Dispatchers tell Eyewitness News a semi and another vehicle collided, but details of the accident remain unclear.

One person is being flown to a Wichita hospital in critical condition. It is unknown if other people were hurt.
