Six Wichita-area Taco Ticos have been closed for failing to pay state sales tax.

Jeannine Koranda, Kansas Deptartment Of Revenue spokeswoman, said the state seized the restaurants' assets Tuesday. Other locations in Derby, Arkansas City, Topeka and Dodge City also closed.

Officers seized all known bank accounts, on-site cash, business inventory and personal property assets belonging to owner Mohmood  M. Karim. The state issued two warrants claiming a total of $434,939.23 in lost sales tax.

The closed locations include:

929 N. Broadway
1303 N. Tyler
2515 S. Seneca
416 N. West St.
3257 E. Harry
11333 E. Central

Koranda said closing a business is a last resort after collection attempts, tax liens, previous bank levies and on-site till taps are executed to bring the taxpayer into compliance have been exhausted.
