A group of mostly teenagers are in jail - after breaking into a elderly couple's home and trashing the place.

They got caught after they started shooting off guns they stole from the home in a Wichita neighborhood.

The elderly couple that owns the home is out of town.

A neighbor was watching their home when officers tell us a grandson of that neighbor stole the key and broke into the home.

Officers say three teenage boys and a young man vandalized the place, drawing graffiti and puncturing holes in the walls. They also clogged up the toilets and defecated on the floors

But they didn't stop there.

"The four individuals admitted that they broke into that residence that did not belong to them, took the homeowner's firearms and went on and just started shooting the guns in the street," says Sgt. Bruce Watts, Wichita Police Department.

"I heard some gunshots I believe and all of a sudden i come out about 2:30 and the police told me to go back into the house," says Brad who lives one house down from the couple.

No one was hurt and police found all of the stolen guns.

Some neighbors say they feel bad about the mess the couple will come home to.

"You're dealing with someone that was probably on social security and needs every dollar and it's going to be one of those things that are tough," says Jeanette Mueller who lives down the street.

The four suspects are now in jail on various charges -- including burglary and discharging a firearm in city limits.
