What happens at companies like Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, Bombardier and Spirit AeroSystems, determine how busy things are at their suppliers.
Wichita's Omni aerospace supplies to all those companies and says it's plenty busy.
"When we hear facilities are expanding, offering new aircrafts, it's encouraging to us," explains Doug Leis, Vice President of Sales at Omni.
Bombardier announced on Monday it's planning a multimillion dollar expansion. Cessna recently unveiled plans to start production on two new jets.
After three, tough economic years the good news is giving suppliers like Omni some hope.
"It's kind of telling us that the industry is starting to make a turn. When they're starting to launch new products, that's telling us things are starting to turn a bit."
Since 2008 Wichita has had more than 10,000 aviation layoffs, and when the big companies struggle, so do their suppliers.
Omni is starting to add shifts again, something it hasn't had to do in several years. It says increased work from companies like Hawker Beechraft, Spirit and Cessna have them poised to even expand if things continue to improve.
"The last couple years have been tough but we weathered through it and now we're just looking for the growth."
