Computer problems are causing slow downs at many tag offices across Kansas.
Sedgwick County Treasurer Linda Kizzire says the problems with the tag office computer system started late yesterday afternoon and continued through this morning.
Jeanine Koranda with the Kansas Department of Revenue says offices are still able to process tags, it is just taking longer than normal. Koranda says it does not appear every tag office in Kansas is having a problem.
Koranda says the state is working with vendor 3M to fix the slow down. She says, since a new month is beginning, people with tags that renew in March should consider renewing by mail or on-line, instead of visiting a tag office.
The new computer system for Kansas car tags was installed last Spring. After it was installed, problems with the system led to weeks of long lines at tag offices. The state says many of those problems were worked out last year. DMV locations have not yet switched over to the new system. That is expected to happen sometime this year.
