A partnership between the Dodge City YMCA and the school district lands a two million dollar grant.
The grant will help fund an academy-like after-school program. The program will help students with tutoring, offer organized activities and even provide them with a snack. YMCA officials says this is a chance to enhance learning abilities.
"This grant will just be able to give those people the opportunity to be able to have their kids in a quality after-school program, get some tutoring, a snack, just some quality time where they aren't misbehaving," said Chad Knight, CEO of the Southwest Kansas YMCA.
The academy is set to being in August. It will cost five dollars a week, which includes food and equipment.
