A federal judge allows a Dodge City clinic to join a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood challenging the constitutionality of a new Kansas law that effectively stripped both entities of federal funds for family planning.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten on Tuesday granted the motion by Dodge City Family Planning Clinic to intervene in the case.

Marten ruled the clinic may file a motion for injunctive relief to restore its funding without delay. He also ordered the state to file its response by Thursday.

The clinic says without the federal funds it will be close within weeks, leaving many low-income patients in Dodge City with no alternative provider for free or reduced-price health care services.
