Man watches thief steal his wheelchair ramp

A 72-year-old disabled man watches as someone steals a wheelchair ramp from outside his home.

It happened Tuesday in the 2000 block of south Vine in Wichita. Wichita police say the man was sitting in his home, when he watched a man come up and take his metal wheelchair ramp.

The man called police, who notified area scrap yards. Within an hour police say the ramp was located at one yard.

Later in the day, police say the suspect and another person returned to the same scrap yard with more metal to sell. The scrap yard called police, who arrived and took both people into custody.

Investigators say the ramp was sold for just $7.20 as scrap, but cost the homeowner $3,000.
