Update: One person is dead, another hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting in Wichita late Wednesday.
A man called police saying he'd received a phone call from a woman who said she'd shot and killed her husband and was going to take her own life.
Police were called to the home in the 2200 block of E. 53rd Street around 9:40. When they got there, they heard a single gunshot coming from inside.
Officers went into the home and found a 38-year-old man dead in the living room. They continued through the house and found a 37-year-old woman with a single gunshot wound to her chest in a bedroom. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police say he suffered several gunshot wounds.
Police tell us it appears the couple had some sort or argument inside the house, and the woman shot the man several times. She then called a man police referred to as a guardian and said she'd killed her husband and was about to kill herself.
Police say there are no signs of a disturbance or fight anywhere in the house and the couple has no history of domestic violence.

One person is dead and another is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after a shooting late Wednesday night.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2200 block of E. 53rd Street South just before ten o'clock.
"911 dispatch received a call from a man saying that his adult daughter had just called him, claiming she had shot her husband," said Wichita Police Lt. Chris Halloran. "Officers responded within minutes, and upon knocking on the door, heard one more gunshot, so they forced entry and found two people in the house that had received gunshot wounds."
One person died at the scene. The other was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police would not say which of the people survived.
Holloran says officers found a gun in the home but did not say if it was used in the shootings.
Police are expected to release more information about the shooting during the daily briefing Thursay morning.
