(WICHITA, Kan.)—
Efforts to built an Operation Freedom memorial in Wichita received a hefty donation. Thursday, the Kansas Star Casino presented a $21,000 check to the cause.The money will go towards the $200,000 needed to build the new memorial at Veteran's Park in Wichita. The memorial will honor members of the armed forces from Kansas who have died since the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Organizers are hoping to have all of the funds raised by March first. If that happens, the goal is to have the memorial dedicated on Memorial Day 2012.
About half of the money has been raised so far.
