Tree trimmer rescue (By Photojournalist Casey Lowmiller / October 2, 2012) |
A professional tree trimmer found himself caught between branches about fifteen feet in the air late Tuesday afternoon.
He was removing the larger branches near the top of the tree when one of those branches swung around and trapped his right arm and hand. One of his co-workers immediately called 911.
The fire department arrived on scene with their high angle rescue crew who are specially trained for these types of occurrences.
With this special crew and their rescue equipment they were able to secure the patient in the tree while also securing the branch from moving as they freed his arm.
He was transported to a Wichita hospital with injuries only to his right arm and hand.
Professional tree trimming companies are considered very hazardous jobs and must always take safety precautions.
