hinson Regional Mecial Center says it's gearing up for the future.
The center Thursday announced plans for a five million dollar renovation and expansion of the emergency department.
It will expand from ten beds to 20..and will include two major trauma rooms, and 14 private treatment rooms.
Those who work in the center say the expansion will be especially helpful during the busiest times in the evenings.
Nursing director Joyoce Radke tells us "Most of the time we have patients in the waiting room, which we would love to not have them have to wait in the waiting room it's very hard on people. Everybody who comes to the emergency room comes because they need to be here and they need to be back in a room".
Half of the project cost will be funded by a grant from the Regional Medical Foundation.
The hospital says any additional staffing will be driven by how much volume the e-r has.
