Wichita may soon know the design of new artwork scheduled to be constructed along the Big Ditch bridge connecting I-235 to 13th Street in west Wichita. The plan calls for a design with a windmill with clouds and birds. It would be recessed into the north retaining wall along Windmill Road.
The Wichita City Council will be asked to approve the aesthetic design for the $55 million project Tuesday.
Unlike some of the artwork on retaining walls along Kellogg, where motorists whiz past without getting a chance to see it, city engineer Jim Armour says people should have a chance to see the windmill piece.
Eyewitness News reporter Melody Petit will have more on this story on today’s newscasts and on KWCH.com.
