14 musicians at Wichita State University are putting the city’s complaints into song. The groups  is part of an international project that sets the grumblings from people in different cities to music.

Freshman baritone Anthony Perkins, Jr. says that he was a little skeptical of the project at first but he got excited when he learned more.

“When you do a little bit of research on some of the topics and the other choirs that have done this, that generally we have the same complaints…such as no one knows how to drive,” said Perkins.

Dr. Tom Wine, the director of choral activities at WSU, composed the song that covers topics from traffic on Kellogg to loud dogs barking in the neighborhood.

The complaints were assembled by the Ulrich Museum of Art and were submitted via Twitter, Facebook and paper suggestions.

Sophomore, Joella Wolnik, says the music reflects the frustrations Wichtians have to deal with every day.

“I feel like everyone thinks about this stuff all the time and it’s really fun to sing it and get it out there and make fun of it a little bit,” says Wolnik.

The Wichita Complaints Choir will debut on Thursday, February 16th at 7 p.m. at the Murdock Theater.
