She attached a note to a pink balloon with 500 others.
Two days later she got a reply from someone more than 600 miles away in Mississippi.
David Whitehead found Peyton's balloon in a soybean field.
Peyton and her family took a detour on their spring break trip to visit him at his farm.
The farmer and his wife took them out to lunch.
Peyton's parents say the whole town of Glen Allen, Mississippi knows who Peyton is.
They call her Miss Kansas.
