A new year, but the same problem for millions of Americans, still dealing with unemployment.
Across the country, 40 percent of unemployed americans have been out of work for more than six months as the country passed the deadline for the 'fiscal cliff.'
Scott Conyac has been unemployed for the last 2 months and says it's a job looking for another job. He spends more than 5 hours a day, just searching.
The financial planner was one of 170 laid off from Hawker Beechcraft.
"It was a real shocker but I took it professionally and I knew it wasn't personal, just business," says Conyac.
Conyac joins thousands of others in Kansas who are looking for work.
Gary Strack says there were so many people dealing with unemployment issues at his church that he got involved with "The Transitions Career Ministry." It's a faith based support group.
We share frustrations, concerns, interviews that people have had, how to spruce up your resume a little bit, that sort of thing.
The ministry started with about 40 people but as people got jobs, that number dwindled down to about five people.
"We don't want people to come to our meeting, that means they're unemployed! But if they have that need, we certainly want to help them," he says.
Conyac is not affiliated with that group but says he recognizes the importance of networking and support that can come from it.
"Let them know actively that you're unemployed, you're looking for work, either through twitter or facebook or a mass text message that you're unemployed," he says.
