Some people in Valley Center say it's time to crack down on campers and boats.

Some 75 residents are asking the city to enforce an ordiance restricting where recreational vehicles can be parked.

The city council passed an ordinance last year requiring them to be stored 25 feet back from the street as many communities have.  However, resident Jan Nankes says there are a lot of violators, and the city hasn't been doing anything about it.  She says it's a safety issue.

"If you have children that are in the neighborhood, if you're backing out of your driveway a lot of times you can't see around those vehicles," Nankes says.

However, many RV owners like Darrell Jarman take umbrage with that.

"I don't see where there's a visibility problem, any more than one of those big trees over there blocking somebody's view," Jarman says.

Valley Center's planning commission will discuss the issue next month.
