A bill has been introduced in the Kansas Senate, S.B. 313 that would allow people to bring full strength beer and liquor into places managed by the Department of Wildlife, including El Dorado lake.
Right now, only 3.2 beer or what's often called 'grocery store' beer is allowed at state parks. "From a law enforcement standpoint, it really doesn't mean a whole to us," explains Park Ranger Seth Turner.
He says people are already bringing stronger alcohol into the lake and the 3.2 rule can be hard to enforce. Turner says the change likely wouldn't cause more problems, as long as the "no kegs" and "no party balls" rules stand.
"They draw in a lot of people. They draw in a lot of underage people and that just leads to mass confusion. So that's what we don't want to see."
We did speak to one camper who said she thought it was a bad idea because it would create trouble. The bill is currently in a Senate Committee.
