(TOPEKA, Kan.)—
Kansas House Speaker Mike O'Neal is once again under heavy criticism for an email he sent to colleagues. This time, O'Neal's critics suggest he is praying for the death of President Obama by citing a biblical verse in an email to fellow Republican lawmakers.
However, critics point out verse 9 of that passage goes on to say "Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow."
O'Neal told Eyewitness News, "There is no truth to the suggestion that I'm hoping for the death of the president. That would be an offensive thing for anyone to say."
O'Neal said it's unfair for people to make the leap. He called the email "political commentary about his hope for a change in administration."
Last week, O'Neal apologized for forwarding an email that referred to the first lady as "Mrs. YoMama".
