Rodney is a Storm Team 12 Meteorologist. He has earned both the National Weather Association's TV Seal of Approval and the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation.
Rodney is also KWCH’s Storm Coordinator, directing the station’s team of storm chasers as they track severe weather around the Sunflower State. He began this role in 2006, a few months before the Greensburg tornado. “That was an unbelievable night. Their phone calls back to me kept growing in intensity, just like the monster storm. I’ll never forget that long weekend.”
Before arriving at KWCH, he was a meteorologist at KSNW and also spent time at WeatherData, Inc., where he was a Storm Warning Meteorologist.
Rodney began his forecasting career in Topeka, KS where he was the Weekday Morning Meteorologist at KTKA from 1994-1997.
He is a proud graduate of the University of Kansas. Rodney is married, with a daughter, a son and two dogs.
In his spare time, he loves to tinker with computers and electronics. He holds a General class amateur radio license, and enjoys talking with fellow hams from other states and countries. "I’ve made contacts in Russia, Japan, Ukraine, Hawaii, Spain, Argentina and Bermuda, along with a number of other countries. I'm on the air in more places than just here on KWCH! My call sign is N0SET."
He also enjoys following the space program and anything else up in the sky.
