BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. -

Traffic has been shut down on the west side of El Dorado after an accident involving a semi truck.

It happened on K-254 and Boyer around 3:15 p.m. Thursday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a car driven by Sarah Wehry, 31, of El Dorado, struck a semi truck stopped at a red light.

The driver, and passengers 36-year-old Terry Wehry, and 2-year-old Matthew Wehry, were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released.

Troopers said no one in the car was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi, John Brown-Sword, 60 of Lebanon, Mo., was not hurt.

Crews closed the eastbound lanes of K-254 for about an hour to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
