The body of a Hoisington man has been recovered at Wilson Lake Sunday morning after he drowned Saturday night.
Russell County Sheriff's Office received a call of a missing man in the Rock Town area of Wilson Lake on Saturday night at 8:43 p.m., according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
A 38-year-old man tried to swim across one of the coves in the Rock Town area after the boat he was on had mechanical problems. Two people who remained on the boat say they saw the man swimming and then did not see his head come up again.
Rescuers searched on land Saturday night using ATV's. With the help of sonar, a professional driver located the body at 9:24 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Authorities believe alcohol is a contributing factor in the drowning.
