(WICHITA, Kan.) -

One day after finding a car suspected of being involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident, Wichita police have made arrests.  They arrested 26-year-old George Childers for leaving the scene of an accident and felony obstruction.

He's accused of hitting Lloyd "Sonny" Ferguson and a child while they were riding a horse along 21st Street last month in Wichita.  Ferguson died and the child was injured.  The 6-year-old is recovering at a rehabilitation hospital in Lincoln.

Police also arrested two women for felony obstruction, 28-year-old Elease Childers and a 19-year-old.

The case is still under investigation.  A CrimeStoppers tip helped police break the case.

"I'm pretty confident we would not have located this vehicle if this individual would not have called CrimeStoppers," Captain Brent Allred said.

The vehicle was hidden in a garage on North Coolidge and had damage consistent with the crime scene, Allred said.

Investigators were looking for a grey or silver Mercury Grand Marquis that had heavy front-end damage. Last month CrimeStoppers offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The news about the car was welcomed by Ferguson's daughter, Mayona Presley.

"It's wonderful because I know there's a lot of his friends that are telling me they're on the lookout," she said.

Presley, 17, said it's been "lonely" these past three weeks.  She misses her dad just stopping by to check up on her.
