Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Carrying a purse…
Friday - 10:39 am
A 53/f says she saw a guy riding a bike a N. Estelle and 1st Street - carrying a large purse.  She says the biker was pedaling “as fast as he could.”  The woman was concerned because she thought it was strange for him to be carrying a purse and worried it was a purse snatching.  She followed him for a few blocks, but lost him.

Crashed…
Friday - 11:00 am
An officer reports seeing someone crash through a locked gate and striking a parked police car.  The driver was stopped and arrested for DUI.  The officer says there were children present in the roadway when the accident happened.  The driver refused to take a breath test, so they did a blood draw about an hour later.  The drive was arrested for DUI, DUI after priors and aggravated child endangerment. The location of the incident is not listed.

Dog barking…
Friday - 11:33 am
A 64/f in the 800 block of S. Martinson says her new neighbors have a dog that barks all day long.  She says it’s disturbing her peace.

School fight…
Friday - 2:00 pm
An officer reports seeing a student beating up another student at a school in the 2300 block of E. Douglas.  A teacher was smacked in the face while trying to break up the fight.  No one was hurt.  No word on arrests.

Kids in protective custody…
Friday - 3:00 PM
An officer took five children into police protective custody after finding them living with their parents in unsanitary conditions.  The address of the incident is not listed.

Almost an Assault…
Friday - 6:28 pm
A 32/m in the 1600 E. Skinner says a man swung at him several times...but missed because he was drunk.  No arrests.

Sour note on concert tickets…
Saturday - 8:54 pm
A 50/f says her son bought concert tickets for her birthday from someone who represents a company (name is not listed).  Her son made payment via MoneyGram.  Her son then contacted the ticket agents a tthe concert venue by phone an said they were “very convincing”, but confirmation didn’t arrive - so there were no tickets and the phone number he called is no longer in service.

Lost dog…
Sunday - 3:25 pm
A woman says she lost her dog in the 11400 block of E. Kellogg.  She says she thinks the dog got out of her car while she was inside a store.
