Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Storage unit burglary…
A 36/f says someone broke into her storage unit in the 1200 block of S. Market.  Unknown if anything was stolen.

Spray painter drops wallet…and pot…
A 55/m says he saw someone spray-painting graffiti on the east side of a building in the 1300 block of S. Osage.  The guy apparently dropped his wallet which had “possible marijuana” in it…

Brick thrown through window…
A 51/m in the 3100 block of S. Victoria says someone threw a red brick at the windshield of his pickup truck, causing damage.  It doesn’t state whether the vehicle was parked or if he was driving at the time.

Burglary/pawning…
A 64/m says his detached garage in the 1400 block of S. Seneca was burglarized by two people who forced their way through a rear door.  Several items were stolen.  Three motors (unknown what kind of motors) were pawned at a local business. One of them had already been sold but the other two are on hold until it’s all sorted out.

Creepy…
A 38/f called police after seeing someone taking pictures of her daughter while they were shopping at a business in the 3400 block of N. Rock Road.

Holes in the pool...
A 28/f says someone cut six holes in her above-ground pool in the 2500 block of N. Piatt.  No idea who did it.

Similar situation in the 2300 block of N. Flutter.  A 34/m says someone tore a 12” diameter hole in the pool liner. (Note: the police report says 12’…which would be 12 feet…this seems unlikely…)

Vandalized car…
A 17/f says all four tires were slashed on her car in the 2500 block of W. 43rd S. The driver’s side was also ‘keyed’.  Sounds like she knows who did it…and she wants to press charges.

Fraudulent check…
A 37/m says he received a check in the mail with instructions to keep a small portion of it and Western Union the rest to a different location… He took the check to the bank…the bank said it was a fraud.  No loss.

PlayStation harassment…
A 28/m in the 2200 block of S. Rock says someone keeps harassing him through messages on the PlayStation 3.

Box cutter threat…
A 35/f in the 2000 block of E. Random says someone slashed her tires then threatened her daughter with a box knife.  Someone else witnessed the event.  No one was hurt.  Police are looking for the guy.

Human trafficking…
An 18/f says she was looking for a job and put an ad on a website for housecleaning.  Someone responded to her ad, she went to their house – but when she got there she thought they were involved with human trafficking.  She was not hurt.  She says she told them her boyfriend was with her so they “didn’t try to do anything to her.”

No pictures…
A 26/f in the 200 block of N. Socora says she saw someone in a car in front of her house taking pictures.  She went to ask what they were up to, but the vehicle sped off.

Ominous…
A 28/f says she’s received several threatening phone calls at work from someone.  The person calls her by name and makes comments that she’d “better watch her back.”
