Each day, we comb through pages upon pages of crime reports from the Wichita Police Department.  Below is a quick glance at some bits and pieces from those sheets. 

These reports are designed to give you an idea of what residents and police are dealing with around town.

Clothing heist…
5:22 am
A 57/m says three men entered a business in the 900 block of S. Oliver while it was closed through a broken front glass window (the window was reported broken in an earlier report).  The three were then seen on surveillance stealing clothing from the store then leaving through the back door.

Church scammer…
9:24 am
A 61/f says someone came to her church and said he needed money to get home (the report says to “SERIA”, which may be a misspelling of Syria, or Serbia or some other place).  The woman and another church member gave him some money.  She later found out that the same guy went to another church with the same story and received a larger amount of money from them.  They checked it out online and determined the man was scamming churches into giving him money.

Ice cream stolen…
10:42 am
A 45/m says someone took ice cream from his company’s vehicle.  The person got it through the back doors while it was parked at the man’s home in the 300 block of N. Madison.  The guy says there was a homeless man in the area the night before asking for money.  He thinks it could have been him, but he has no way of proving it.

Stun gun…
11:30 am
A 19/f says three people came to her home and physically attacked her until another person intervened with a stun gun.  One of the intruders says someone drew a gun and fired a shot in their direction - prompting them to flee.  Police didn’t find a firearm, but they did recover a BB gun and a stun gun.  All three intruders were arrested...they are juveniles.

Misplaced wallet…

A 60/m says he was trying on clothes at a store in the 3500 block of N. Rock.  He stepped out and realized he left his wallet in the dressing room.  When he went to another store, he realized he had is wallet, but everything in it was gone.  He went back to the first store and was told it was no longer there. He was given an identity theft packet to help protect himself.

Oops…

A 23/m says he lost his wallet and contents in the 1400 block of N. Fairmount.  He says he left the wallet accidentally on the roof of his car and it fell off while he was driving.

Poor squirrels…
1:40 pm
A 62/m says he was pulling out of a store in the 3900 block of W. Central when a woman sped past him - striking two squirrels - to get in front of him… then hit the brakes several times before entering a veterinarian’s office.  He says he pulled in after the woman to try to let her know what happened, but she explained that HE cut HER off...and what she was going to do to him.  The guy says she started getting angry, so he just left and called in the police report.

Bus troubles…
5:15 pm
A 45/m says he gave a bus driver a transfer ticket at Harry & Broadway.  The bus driver said the ticket was not valid, so the guy gave the driver cash instead...the bus driver then shorted him on change. 

Shoplifter spooked…
8:51 pm
A 62/m says someone came into a business in the 7000 block of W. Central, then tried to walk out with merchandise without paying for it.  When confronted about shoplifting, the woman fled the store, leaving behind the merchandise...and her purse…

Rough arrest…
10:50 pm
An officer reports trying to arrest someone - but she was kicked in the knee as she was taking her into custody.  The officer took the woman to the ground to keep her from assaulting her further.  When searched, the officer found marijuana, a pink glass meth pipe and a wooden marijuana pipe.  When the officer checked the woman’s vehicle, it came back listed as stolen. The woman was arrested on a bunch of charges...including outstanding warrants.
