The layoffs at Newell Rubbermaid in Winfield this week were immediate for a few workers.
Nichole Quinlan, senior manager of corporate communications for Rubbermaid in Georgia said the cutbacks involved employees designated as " associates." A firm number was not available.
" From time to time, we make changes on our team based on careful consideration of the needs of the business." Quinlan said in news release. "At our Winfield facility, our employee base has grown in recent years and we remain committed to the Winfield community."
The layoffs come at a time when Rubbermaid is gearing up for summer production of coolers and other products. A call was placed to Winfield's Mayor and City Administrator, who were both unavailable for comment on the story.
