A Sedgwick County judge has sentenced a man convicted of murder to life in prison.
Jason Jones was convicted of killing Shawn Lindsey, who was killed on January 11. His body was taken to a wooded area near K-96 and Hillside, where his body was found on January 16. Lindsey's girlfriend had reported him missing three days before his body was found.
On top of the life sentence, the judge sentenced Jones to 165 months in prison for aggravated kidnapping. District Attorney Spokesman Dan Dillon says that means that after 25 years in prison, if a parole board rules Jones eligible, he will still serve 165 months in prison.
A judge determined the sentence after the jury in his case could not agree on whether he should face the Hard 50 in that case.
There are five other defendants in this case.
