Officers arrest a 32-year-old male a 31-year old female in Hays in connection with a Wichita carjacking. Michael E. Novak and Crystal R. McKinney were booked into the Ellis County Jail today.
The Hays Police Department was called to the 2100 block of Lincoln Draw this morning before 10:00 a.m. That's where officers recovered the stolen vehicle and apprehended McKinney.
Chief Police Don Scheibler says they tried to call Novak out of a residence with no success. The Special Situation Response Team was called to the scene to help barricade the Novak.
Scheibler then says SSRT entered the house and found the suspect hiding in an upstairs bedroom.
Novak was arrested for a felony warrant and felony obstruction.
McKinney was arrested for felony obstruction, obstruction, and driving while revoked.
The Kansas Highway Patrol and the Ellis County Sheriff's Office assisted with this incident.
