SALINA, Kan. -

Update: Two people arrested in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby made their first appearances in court Tuesday morning.

20-year-old Diserah Overturf and 26-year-old Nicholis Corbin were booked into Saline County Jail on Friday on suspicion of murder and child abuse.

The judge appointed each of them an attorney and set their bond at a million dollars each.

Their next hearing is set for January 16.


A Salina man and women were booked into the Saline County jail this morning in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby.

They are both being investigated on homicide charges. They also face charges that include abuse of a child and torture or cruelly beating a child younger than 18.

Officers were called to a home in south Salina at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, where they found 3-month-old boy not breathing. Lt. Sean Morton, Salina Police, told the Journal the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Results of the baby's autopsy are pending.
