WICHITA, Kan. -

Four defendants charged in a double-shooting that killed a Valley Center couple are now facing capital murder charges.

Tony Bluml, Kisha Schaberg, Drew Ellington and Braden Smith are charged with killing Roger and Melissa Bluml during a robbery attempt in November.

The Blumls were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Melissa died that night, Roger passed away from his injuries Dec. 23.

The Bluml's adoptive son, Tony, his biological mother and two of his high school friends were arrested in the case and all face numerous charges, including aggravated robbery, burglary and theft.

In the alternative to the capital murder charge, the suspects also face two counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators have revealed little details of what led up to the shooting. But court documents found that detectives spent several days collecting evidence both at the Bluml home, and at a Sedgwick County park.

Firearms and cartridge casings were collected on the scene of the double-shooting. Court documents also reveal coins may have been taken during the crime, valued less than $1,000.

The defendants are expected to return to court for a preliminary hearing Jan. 16.
