WICHITA, Kan. -

In a developing story, a Bombardier-Learjet spokeswoman has confirmed to Eyewitness News that layoffs will take place this week in Wichita and Queretaro, Mexico.

Molly Edwards said about 200 workers in Wichita will be impacted. The workers were notified today.

The company will attempt to reassign 100 workers as available, 70 contract workers will be let go and 30 are expected to be moved elsewhere within the company.

In Mexico, about 50 contractors will be let go and 200 employees will be moved to other areas of the company.

Edwards said the workforce reductions are due to the Learjet-85 program based on level of production and development of the program.
