After losing to the Wild three times last year, the Salina Bombers finally got the win against their in-state rivals 13-11 on Saturday night.
The Wild starting quarterback Rocky Hinds was in Canada trying out for a team, so wide receiver Joe Kassanavoid filling in at quarterback. In the first quarter, he throws an interception that would lead to a Michael Georgetti field goal to put the Bombers up 3-0.
No touchdowns in the first quarter for either team, but in the second quarter the Bombers finally find the end zone. Robbie Nallenweg, starting his second game for the Bombers, found Ricky Roberts for a 43-yard touchdown. The Bombers would tack on another field goal to go up 13-0 at half.
Not much scoring for most of second half, but the Wild with some last second heroics. Down 13-5 Kassanavoid finally finds the end zone on a 2-yard quarterback sneak. So down 13-11 the Wild go for the 2-point conversion. A false start drives them back, so Kassanavoid is forced to pass and Brandon McKinney comes up with the big sack to give the Bombers the 13-11 win.
