OAKLAWN, Kan. -

Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who they believe burglarized four homes in south Wichita.

It happened in the Oaklawn neighborhood Tuesday around 10:30 a.m.

Oaklawn resident Chin Keo is thankful her family wasn't home when someone snuck in a back window and ransacked their house. She says the man got away with a watch, bracelet, clothes, and tennis shoes worth about $600.

"We wouldn't think this would ever happen to us," Keo said. "We're going to get a home security system."

Deputies think the suspect then went through three other homes in the neighborhood, taking more than $900 worth of jewelry and belongings, and causing about $300 in damage.

"Once they (deputies) started hearing all these different locations and calls coming out they had to keep changing their perimeter," said Captain Michael Stover, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office. "That's probably what allowed him to slip away."

Deputies say in two of the homes, the suspect threatened people inside with a knife and pushed a woman to the ground.

"If you were sane you wouldn't do that," Keo said. "To go house after house and terrorize everybody around the neighborhood, it just scares the neighborhood."

Deputies are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office at (316) 660-5300.
